USA BMX Move Up List

If you were a NBL rider that joined the USA BMX family this year, please be sure to check this list to find your name (it is alphabetical by last name) and either the new classification or your current number of wins towards advancement.

Please remember that, within USA BMX, it is 8 wins to advance from Novice to Intermediate and 25 wins (or 5 national wins) in the Intermediate class to advance to Expert. And, most importantly, it is the RIDER`S responsibility to keep track of his/her wins and move themselves up to the next skill level when the required number of wins are attained.

Congratulations to those of you who have advanced to the next level in BMX and good luck to you at the President`s Cup/Race Of Champions and “The Greatest Race On Earth” – the 2011 ABA Grands.

One of the most prestigious and exiting events in all of BMX is the annual State vs. State NBL President’s Cup, and one of the most frequently asked questions is, “When and where will the President’s Cup be?”. As the face of BMX racing in North America evolves and the NBL and ABA National Series are molded into one mega series u
nder USA BMX, great events like the Presidents Cup are taking on a whole new meaning. We are pleased to announce that the 2011 USA BMX President’s Cup will be hosted on Friday, November 25, 2011 in conjunction with the 2011 ABA Grand Nationals in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

When deciding the location for this amazing event major considerations were taken into account. Paramount among them were pairing the State vs. State ABA event with the NBL State vs. State event and finding a central location to ensure participation from the entire USA BMX membership which is now evenly geographically distributed across the U.S. The ABA Grand Nationals (and future USA BMX Grands) are hosted annually, Thanksgiving weekend and features one of the most dynamic arenas at a quarter of a mile long and a BMX track that is constructed with more dirt than any other track in the World. The ABA Grands are very similar to the NBL Grands as the race takes place on both a Saturday and Sunday, preceded by a special race hosted on Friday. This ABA Friday race—The Race of Champions—is for riders who have qualified to participate by finishing in the top 10 in the ABA State Series based on age and class (i.e. top ten 10 year old expert). Last year’s Race of Champions featured participants from 45 states and the merging of the two events under USA BMX will realize participation from all 50 states, Puerto Rico and at least 2 Canadian provinces. NBL riders will qualify as they have in the past by finishing in the top 15 in their NBL State Series based on age and class.

The great tradition of the President’s Cup will continue and feature a Parade of States, with all riders from each state completing a track walk adorning their State’s flag and name, State vs. State team competition where riders from each state will challenge each other on a State Team Sheet. The bleachers will be divided by state as the state teams group together to cheer on the fellow statesmen and strategize on how to win the Cup. Additionally a very special cup will be awarded to the wining state with an additional banner acknowledging the winner of every President’s Cup since the beginning of the event in 1985. The award of the day will be fabulous cups. In addition, the champions in every class will be awarded no. 1 plates and vehicle stickers.

Anyone who attends this year’s President’s Cup/Race of Champions is sure to be impressed. Tulsa is an outstanding host city that is ideally and centrally located to the USA BMX track base and offers amazingly low hotel rates (some as low as $69 per night). The Tulsa Expo Square is the perfect indoor BMX venue, all under one expansive roof, featuring a track is legendary year after year. Additionally, the vendor and team areas will be the largest you have ever experienced. Please don’t miss this historic event!

To pre-register for this event or for hotel information please click here.

The Strider Cup™ and Strider World Cup™ events are play experiences designed to let toddlers and young kids age 18 months to five years old explore the world on TWO wheels. Whether it is test riding a Strider™ No-Pedal Bike for the first time or racing Striders on a dirt track with other toddlers, Strider World Cup™ events have something for every family interested in giving their child a head start. Balance, coordination, and confidence all develop naturally when children experience group play and friendly competition on Striders. For more information, visit www.StriderCup.com.

About Strider™ No-Pedal Bikes
If your toddler can walk, your toddler CAN ride a STRIDER™! Avoid tricycle tip-overs and training wheel wobbles. Go straight to riding on TWO wheels. STRIDER™ No-Pedal Bikes help toddlers age one to five years old learn balance and coordination BEFORE pedaling, which develops glittering confidence and amazing bike handling skills. So ditch the tricycle and training wheels, and teach your child to ride a bike sooner, better, and safer with a STRIDER™. Available at www.StriderSports.com.

Dear NBL Members,

It is with a very sad heart that I share the news with you that the NBL will be closing its
doors after 30 plus wonderful years of BMX racing.

ABA and the NBL Board worked diligently towards a successful outcome within the
bounds of the Asset Purchase Agreement that was entered into between the parties on
June 17, 2011. While the intention of NBL was to use the proceeds from the agreement to
pay the tracks, teams and riders as stated in the agreement, this was not possible, as such
a distribution would have prejudiced all of NBL’s other creditors. Due to the enormous
amount of NBL debt, there was simply not enough money to pay off all of its creditors in
full.

Therefore, we have requested that the Court judicially dissolve the company, and appoint
a receiver pursuant to Section 1702.52 of the Ohio Revised Code, so as to wind down our
business affairs and provide an equitable distribution to all NBL creditors. Our request to
place NBL into state receivership was granted, and a receiver was appointed pursuant to
a court order signed by the judge on August 11, 2011. Those members that are currently
owed money by NBL will be contacted shortly by the court appointed receiver in regard
to payment on a pro rata basis.

USA BMX very kindly took it upon itself to initiate some respite for our riders through
the voucher program, and of course, extending your membership through December
31st 2011. The team has been very visible and proactive at all our remaining nationals,
ensuring that the riders finish out the season and earn their plates. They have put all
their resources together to make sure that NBL members feel welcome under USA BMX.
Track operators are enjoying the support system already in place to further grow their
local programs. The USA BMX team, in supporting the NBL programs, have taken their
passion and commitment to the sport of BMX in USA to a whole new level.

The NBL board regrets and sincerely apologizes for the company’s inability to pay all of
its riders, teams and tracks in full. It should be noted that USA BMX in no way assumed
the liabilities of NBL to its riders, teams, or tracks. Please rest assured that the Bob
Warnicke Scholarship program is still available and will continue to be there for our
BMX riders to enjoy.

In closing, the BMX industry in USA has an opportunity to grow and flourish under
USA BMX. The 2012 Olympics will be here soon, let us stand together and show the
world what truly makes America great.

Yours in riding,

Shayne Robinson

Chairperson of National Bicycle League, Inc.

As a reminder, there have been several changes to the National Championship Series qualifications for the 2011
season. We have highlighted the qualifications below so that you can verify that you are qualified for a National
number and understand how your score is being calculated.

The National series runs from October 1, 2010 thru the Grands. Bonus participation and perfect points, along
with local races Challenger riders need to qualify will be calculated October 1, 2010 through August 14, 2011.

The Grands is open to all riders. If you are not qualified you can race the Grands for award of the day.

Rookies: Rookies will only be eligible for award of the day. Rookies will not be ranked Nationally and will not
be awarded plates. Rookies’ standings have been listed online so that riders can compare their ranking to other
rookie competitors.

Challenger’s Qualifications: Each rider must have 6 National series races to qualify, only 2 of these races
can be Challenge/Regional event races, plus the Grands. NEW: In addition each rider must have competed in 3 local races from October 1, 2010 through August 14, 2011. Local races can be of any point value, i.e. state races, National and Challenge/Regional pre-races, local single, double, triple or quad races, or a Bob Warnicke race.

Challenger’s Score: Riders will be pointed based upon the best 6 total National scores, 2 of which may be
Challenge/Regional scores, plus bonus perfect and participation points. Points from local races will not count.

Experts & Cruisers Qualifications: Each rider must have 6 National series races to qualify, only 2 of these
races can be Challenge/Regional event races, plus the Grands.

Experts & Cruisers Score: Riders will be pointed based upon the best 6 National series scores, 1 of which may
be a Challenge/Regional score, plus bonus perfect and participation points.

Bonus Perfect Points: Perfect points are awarded for finishing first in all motos and the main. The qualifying
rounds (if any) are not considered. Riders earn 5 perfect points per each Challenge/Regional “perfect” race and
10 points for each National “perfect” race. No perfects are awarded for local racing. Perfect points are capped at
6 races. Bonus perfect points will be calculated from October 1, 2010 through August 14, 2011.

Bonus Participation Points: Participation points are earned for Local, Challenge/Regional and Champion/
National racing. Local races earn 1 participation point per race and are capped at 5 races (5 points maximum).
Challenge/Regional races earn 2 points per race and are capped at 5 races (10 points maximum). Champion/
National races earn 3 points per race and are capped at 5 races (15 points maximum). A rider can earn up to a
maximum of 30 participation points. Bonus perfect and participation points are added to the rider’s competition
points to yield the rider’s total points in the National standings. Bonus participation points will be calculated
from October 1, 2010 through August 14, 2011.

Awards

Trophies will be awarded to all riders who finish 1-8 in the Mains at the Grands. Only the top 25 riders in the
Challenge, Expert and Cruiser classes will be plated and permitted to use their earned number. All #1 plate
winners will receive an additional award.

Local Tracks: All local races that have been ran October 1, 2010 through August 14, 2011 must be submitted to
USA BMX postmarked by August 16, 2011 to assure that the riders get all of their qualifications met and bonus
points going into the Grands.
