USA BMX Move Up List

If you were a NBL rider that joined the USA BMX family this year, please be sure to check this list to find your name (it is alphabetical by last name) and either the new classification or your current number of wins towards advancement.

Please remember that, within USA BMX, it is 8 wins to advance from Novice to Intermediate and 25 wins (or 5 national wins) in the Intermediate class to advance to Expert. And, most importantly, it is the RIDER`S responsibility to keep track of his/her wins and move themselves up to the next skill level when the required number of wins are attained.

Congratulations to those of you who have advanced to the next level in BMX and good luck to you at the President`s Cup/Race Of Champions and “The Greatest Race On Earth” – the 2011 ABA Grands.

Dear NBL Members,

It is with a very sad heart that I share the news with you that the NBL will be closing its
doors after 30 plus wonderful years of BMX racing.

ABA and the NBL Board worked diligently towards a successful outcome within the
bounds of the Asset Purchase Agreement that was entered into between the parties on
June 17, 2011. While the intention of NBL was to use the proceeds from the agreement to
pay the tracks, teams and riders as stated in the agreement, this was not possible, as such
a distribution would have prejudiced all of NBL’s other creditors. Due to the enormous
amount of NBL debt, there was simply not enough money to pay off all of its creditors in
full.

Therefore, we have requested that the Court judicially dissolve the company, and appoint
a receiver pursuant to Section 1702.52 of the Ohio Revised Code, so as to wind down our
business affairs and provide an equitable distribution to all NBL creditors. Our request to
place NBL into state receivership was granted, and a receiver was appointed pursuant to
a court order signed by the judge on August 11, 2011. Those members that are currently
owed money by NBL will be contacted shortly by the court appointed receiver in regard
to payment on a pro rata basis.

USA BMX very kindly took it upon itself to initiate some respite for our riders through
the voucher program, and of course, extending your membership through December
31st 2011. The team has been very visible and proactive at all our remaining nationals,
ensuring that the riders finish out the season and earn their plates. They have put all
their resources together to make sure that NBL members feel welcome under USA BMX.
Track operators are enjoying the support system already in place to further grow their
local programs. The USA BMX team, in supporting the NBL programs, have taken their
passion and commitment to the sport of BMX in USA to a whole new level.

The NBL board regrets and sincerely apologizes for the company’s inability to pay all of
its riders, teams and tracks in full. It should be noted that USA BMX in no way assumed
the liabilities of NBL to its riders, teams, or tracks. Please rest assured that the Bob
Warnicke Scholarship program is still available and will continue to be there for our
BMX riders to enjoy.

In closing, the BMX industry in USA has an opportunity to grow and flourish under
USA BMX. The 2012 Olympics will be here soon, let us stand together and show the
world what truly makes America great.

Yours in riding,

Shayne Robinson

Chairperson of National Bicycle League, Inc.

We put together a short video after the race to simply say "thank you" to all the fantastic folks that came to VMP-BMX and made the Battlefield Nationals a truly great event.

We put together a short video after the race to simply say “thank you” to all the fantastic folks that came to VMP-BMX and made the Battlefield Nationals a truly great event. Rocket Racing’s Elite A Pro Kelly Lee helped me put this together. It was recorded after about three hours of packing up, three hours of trash duty, and a few hours of defying the laws of physics by cramming Powers’ Bike Shop’s awesome and huge retail space into a single trailer. Many non-glorious things simply need to happen for us to enjoy BMX racing as we know it. Especially after the crazy weather! God bless our volunteers.

We do it because we love racing. We love seeing character develop through competition. We love seeing families and friends come together and encourage each other. We love sharing the great family sport of BMX. All that and more was present at the Battlefield National because of You. Thank YOU NBL BMX Nation!

I luvs me sum BMX,

Archie Dann, Mike Edens and the hard-working crew at VMP-BMX

Family Of Three Prepares To “Ride The Nation” Starting April 20th

Warren Family Ready For Cross Country Bike Ride to NBL Tracks And Nationals

GAHANNA, OH (April 6, 2011) — From April 20th to September 4th, the Warren family of Spring Hill, Florida will ride their bicycles over 3000 miles to promote the sport of BMX Racing. The purpose of their trip is multi-faceted. They will be spreading the word about the newest Olympic Sport, promoting biking as a viable alternative to driving, and testing their own will and determination.

Their trip will begin in Tampa, Florida and will finish in Louisville, Kentucky at the National Bicycle League’s Grand National event on Labor Day weekend. The journey will take them to 25 of the NBL’s BMX tracks in Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. Parents, Jason and Tammy, will ride with their home-schooled 12-year-old BMX daughter, Neva, the “BMX Diva”. Neva has been racing since the age of four. She was the 9 Girls champion at the 2007 USA Championships and competed in the World Championships in Victoria, British Columbia that same year.

On their website (www.ridethenation.org), they refer to themselves as two “fat forty-somethings” and a “moody 12-year-old”. They hope their endeavor will inspire others to try cycling, a low-impact exercise suitable for most any age and athletic ability. They will be keeping a blog on their website, so be sure follow their progress throughout the summer.

The Warrens would like to thank those who have donated their time and money to help sponsor their trip: Tampa BMX, Comfort Inns & Suites, J&R Bicycles, Ohio Dreams, Smoothie King of Wesley Chapel, FL, BMXmania.com, Riderz Ready Jerseys, the National Bicycle League and Schwalbe Tires.
