Letter from New Board Chairman

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The 2010 Competition Congress was a great success. A majority of our tracks were represented and took advantage of the opportunity to learn various components to help run a successful local program. The enthusiasm for the future of NBL BMX was incredible. The unity felt during the weekend was unmatched in previous Congresses.

We also saw the largest slate of candidates, all of which were exceptional choices, run for five board positions. What was clear is the voting membership continued to deliver the message that they want the NBL to be the premier BMX sanctioning body in the world.  The fact that our organization is a member-led organization that utilizes a truly democratic process to choose its leadership sets it apart from any other sanctioning body.

What was most gratifying was the recognition that the NBL has the leader capable of leading our organization into the future. The membership embraced the vision that Gary Aragon laid out during his address to the congress. Everyone in the room was excited about the direction Gary is leading the organization.

With that said, I am pleased to announce that the Board of Directors of the National Bicycle League, that convened its first meeting on Sunday, February 21, voted unanimously to extend Gary Aragon’s contract by five years. We believe Gary has the vision, the experience and the enthusiasm we need to lead our organization into the future. We look forward to the future under Gary’s leadership.

Sincerely,

James Bagwell, Chairman

Board of Directors
