STRIDER CUP™ RULES
NBL sanctioned competition events
RULES AND REQUIREMENT
- Rider must have NBL membership. Cost is $25 for one year, first National will be free. (This is for riders who do not already have a NBL BMX membership).
- Rider must be registered in order to get on track – Entry fee at all Nationals is $20.
- Rider must be able to ride track unassisted.
- Rider must complete course unassisted for a scoring position.
- Exception: rider may be assisted on start hill (Strider start hill).
- 4 classes by age (2, 3, 4, 5): birthyear will determine age for competitors Any individual who is currently or has previously competed in BMX racing is ineligible for the Strider Bike Class or World Cup Series.
- Heats will run one age class at a time. 2 riders to make a class. 2 heats plus main event. Local NBL BMX transfer rules apply.
- Mains will run one age class at a time. Riders whenever combined in age will be pointed separately in the motos and the main event.
- National schedule of Strider competition: 1st moto will be at end of 1st round of BMX competition, 2nd moto at end of 2nd round and main event will be at end of the Pros 3rd round of motos. Podium ceremonies will be held immediately after the Elite ceremonies. Practice will be 10:45 to 10:55 am. BMX race starts at 11:00 am
EQUIPMENT FOR COMPETITION
- Manufactured No Pedal Two Wheel Bicycle. No converted pedal bikes. 12” max tire diameter.
- Properly fitted helmet which meets the United States Consumer Products Safety Commission (US CPSC) helmet safety standards.
- Long Pants (BMX manufactured Race Pants recommended)
- Long Sleeve Shirt (BMX Manufactured Race Jersey recommended)
- Elbow Pads and knee pads recommended
- Gloves recommended
- Number Plate with 3” numbers
RACE COURSE FOR COMPETITION
- Use Strider Track purpose-built solely for 12” balance bikes. Recommend at least one berm and 6+ jumps/rollers. Race course should be 100ft -200ft. in length. 10-12 ft wide
- Can use small pump track – (100 – 200 ft long and 10-12 ft wide)
- Use section of main BMX track. Start on one of the table tops or obstacles and ride a smaller rhythm section to a finish line. Try to incorporate at least 1 berm and several of the smaller rollers of a rhythm section. Race course should be 100ft – 200ft total length. The Strider Bike Track will have clearly marked Start and Finish Lines.”
NBL NATIONAL RACE SERIES
- Rider must participate at 3 Nationals plus Final (15 double Nationals)
- Entry fee paid at each National Event. Participation prizes presented to each rider. Top three (podium) winners in Main event will receive a trophy. Remaining riders in the main event will receive medallion.
- NBL will record results and rank top three riders from each age group at the NBL Final Event
- Any Rider who participates in any of the National Series events will be qualified for the Strider World Cup Championship Event.
